No matter how positive of a person you are, bad things always happen. And when they do it’s very easy to let a bad situation ruin everything and corrupt your whole day. Here are five simple ways that I’ve found help beat a bad day.
I will preface this, however, by saying that I by no means have everything figured out and thus have no more bad days. I am human after all. But here are some things to try next time someone or something tries to put a damper on your mood.
Take a shower.
I don’t know what it is about a shower that helps you calm down and reevaluate your day, but I find that without fail I am in such a better mood after even a quick shower.
Get dressed/put on makeup
If you look nice, you’ll feel nice. This has been proven over and over again. If you don’t feel motivated, get up, change out of your pajamas, do your hair and put on some makeup. It doesn’t take much to transform your whole mood and if you feel confident in how you look, you’ll feel confident in everything.
Turn in some music
Music is a pretty funny thing. Songs can make you feel all kinds of emotions depending on the song you choose. For a mood booster I like to listen to Lindsey Stirling‘s album Shatter Me. If you want more of a “get up and do something” vibe, I would suggest something like Skillet or Thousand Foot Krutch (but that’s just personal choice).
Make your bed
The bed is to the bedroom what the sink is to the kitchen. If the bed looks messy, it doesn’t matter if the rest of the room is clean, it still looks bad. If you want an instant lift for your room and your mood, make your bed.
You know the feeling when everything starts to get too much and it feels like there isn’t enough air on the house? Simple fix, step outside. If you step outside for a few minutes and take a breath, it can help you clear your head and make plan.
